Cisco Network Academy at Macomb Community College

In partnership with Cisco Corporation,
Macomb Community College is now offering the Cisco Networking Academy Program . The Cisco Networking Academy Program is a comprehensive e-learning program, which provides students with the knowledge necessary to sit for the Cisco CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certification exam. Once certified, students will have the Internet technology skills essential in a global economy. The program delivers Web-based content, online assessment, student performance tracking, hands-on labs, and preparation for industry-standard certifications.

CCNA Course Objectives

The CCNA certification indicates knowledge of networking for the small office, home office (SOHO) market, and the ability to work in small businesses or organizations that use networks with fewer than 100 nodes. A CCNA-certified individual can perform the following tasks:

    * Install and configure Cisco switches and routers in multiprotocol internetworks that use LAN and WAN interfaces
    * Provide Level 1 troubleshooting service
    * Improve network performance and security
    * Perform entry-level tasks in the planning, design, installation, operation, and troubleshooting of Ethernet and TCP/IP networks.

Why choose the Cisco Networking Academy Program at Macomb?

According to a May 2002 ITAA report, there will be a demand for more than 1.1 million new IT jobs in the next year with almost 600,000 jobs going unfilled due to a lack of qualified workers. The report also found that the five hottest, most in demand jobs now and in the future are technical support, network design and administration, programming and software engineering, web development, and database development and administration. Moreover, a recent study conducted by Fairfield Research, Inc. and Certification Magazine on the correlation between industry certifications and earning power shows that, "the more certifications the IT professional has, the more he or she tends to get paid." (Certification Magazine, CertMag's Salary Survey, by Gary Gabelhouse, December, 2002.)

By enrolling in Macomb Community College's Cisco Academy you are placing yourself squarely on the road to a rewarding career in Information Technology.

Macomb Community College provides a comprehensive program of high-quality educational, enrichment, and economic development experiences designed to promote individual growth and social improvement.
