For the third time in three road games, the Red Wings will serve as the opponent for a team in its home opener Friday against Phoenix.

This one should be fairly uneventful compared to the others. First, the Wings watched Chicago raise its Stanley Cup championship banner on Oct. 9. Then, on Thursday, the Wings witnessed Mike Modano's Dallas homecoming.

After 20 years as the face of the franchise—a span that included the Stars' lone Stanley Cup in 1999—Modano received a nice reception from the crowd at American Airlines Center, even though he was wearing enemy colors of red and white.

The last couple of years in Dallas were difficult for Modano as he lost his captaincy and his role diminished.
